Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell if I need a new mattress?
Here are a few hints that may indicate it is time for a new mattress:
- You purchased your current mattress over eight years ago. The average span of a quality mattress is eight to ten years.
- You wake up feeling more tired than when you went to sleep. If you are in good health and this happens to you, it is probably time for a new mattress.
- You get a better nights' sleep on the sofa.
- Your mattress looks worn and uneven. Upholstery levels compress unevenly over time. If you have sags and imprints in excess of two inches, it may be time for a new mattress.
What is your comfort guarantee?
Our comfort guarantee applies to mattresses retailing for $999 and above. You must sleep on the mattress for 14 days, which will allow you to adjust to your new mattress. If, after 14 days, you still are not comfortable with your new mattress, just give us a call and we will allow for a one-time comfort exchange for a mattress of equal or greater value. You must be available to schedule the exchange and take delivery within 14 days. A comfort exchange is not valid after 28 days. You will be responsible for the difference in price, plus a fee of $99 plus the redelivery charge. Please note: Our Comfort Exchange Policy is only available in the following areas: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York metro, Long Island, Eastern Pennsylvania, Western Connecticut, Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia. Our comfort guarantee is not available for nationwide deliveries.
How much should I spend on a new mattress?
Mattress prices range from $99.00 to $6,500.00. We recommend you buy the best quality mattress you can afford. Keep in mind the average person spends one-third of their life in bed. A bed is one of the best investments a person can make. When you divide the cost of a quality mattress over its 10 year life, that is only pennies per night.
What are your delivery charges?
MattressHotline delivers to the contiguous 48 states nationwide. For all Stearns & Foster mattresses and select Sealy mattress purchases, delivery is FREE. For other mattress models, there may be an additional charge for delivery. Feel free to call 877-976-6693 if you have any questions. (Pick-ups at our Delaware warehouse are also available.)
Should I replace my boxspring when purchasing a new mattress?
Yes. A good boxspring is as important as a good mattress. It acts like a shock absorber for the mattress. If you put a new mattress on an old boxspring, it will wear quicker than a mattress put on the floor. However, we do sell mattresses separately.
What kind of mattress should I purchase if I have a bad back?
Back problems are not uncommon. In fact, more than 80% of Americans will experience back pain at some point during their lifetime. It is especially important to select a mattress that will keep your spine in alignment. Of course comfort is also important because you do not want pressure causing you discomfort. Latex mattresses are ideal for people suffering with back pain, because they are very supportive, but also help to relieve pressure. Stearns and Foster has an excellent line of latex mattresses (Stearns & Foster Luxury Latex). Also, you may want to consider Sealy's new lineup of memory foam mattresses - Sealy Posturepedic Optimum, which would also be ideal if you have issues with back pain.
I have other medical conditions which I think are exacerbated by my old mattress. What would you recommend?
It is best to give us a call to discuss your particular condition and situation, but generally, you will need to select a mattress that is both comfortable, yet offers excellent support. There is a difference between firm support and a firm feel. Your selection should have firm support but a comfortable feel. Latex and Memory Foam beds offer excellent support, along with pressure relief which can help prevent bed sores and aches and pains in shoulders, hips and sensitive areas in the back. An adjustable base may be an option that you may want to consider, since it gives you the ability to elevate your head and knees to help ease lower back pain. Sealy Adjustable Bases are available with Sealy Posturepedic Optimum mattresses and also Stearns and Foster Latex.
How long should my bedding last?
According to the Better Sleep Council, you should replace your mattress every 8-10 years. However, there are a few things you can do to add life to your new mattress. Buy a mattress with tempered coils and precompressed upholstery layers. A high quality mattress pad will keep the cover form dry-rotting prematurely. Turn your mattress so the layers of padding will settle evenly.
Why does each retailer have a different name for the same product?
This gives each retailer the opportunity to set their own unique price points and also give the perception of exclusivity. If you need a mattress comparison on Sealy, Simmons, or Stearns and Foster...Give us a call at 1-877-976-6693 and we will gladly give you our equivalent model.
What are "split" box springs?
Split boxes are two separate box springs. A queen box spring is 60" wide and 80" long. There are times when the whole box spring will not fit into a space because of the size. Instead of one queen size boxspring, "split" queen boxes are two 30 x 60 boxes that are the same size as a queen boxspring. Queen Split Boxsprings will cost more than a single queen boxspring, because there are two of them needed. If you think you might need queen split boxsprings, you can always give us a call at 877-976-6693 to discuss this option. King sets always come with two boxsprings.
How can we sell for so much lower than anybody else?
Overhead -- we do not have the huge store rents, excessive payroll, utilities, and advertising costs of the large brick-and-mortar mattress chains or department stores. For that reason, we can sell a latex foam mattress for less than half of the gross profit of the large conventional stores. We are also located in tax-free Delaware, which can save you another 5-7% on sales tax, depending upon the state that you live in. We guarantee our prices to be the lowest and pride ourselves on giving the consumer the best price they will find.
Return/Refund Policy
Please be aware that your mattress purchase is non-refundable.
What's your order cancellation policy?
